I’m no genius. I’m smart in spots—but I stay around those spots.
– Tom Watson Sr., Founder of IBM
In this exponentially growing digital age, blogs reached the incredible number of around half a billion. Why should I start my own blog if there are already so many companies and professionals sharing their hyper-qualified perspective? How can I compete with such trustworthy and authoritative sources? How do I dare to add noise to the strenuous buzz overcrowding the web?
Yes, until yesterday I was scared to overexpose myself and, due to poor self-esteem, I suffered from the opposite of the Dunning-Kruger effect.
Then I realised: given the continuously changing nature of the web, most of my work as a copywriter and marketer just disappeared. For goodness’ sake, I have been so wrapped in a working routine that I missed to build a proper portfolio!
Then the shift happened and I recognised that NOW it’s simply the right time to:
- Forget about fears and limiting beliefs, starting from the need to showcase my skills. I have always wanted to have my personal blog sharing my unique point of view and jotting down notes about new things I learn.
- Kickoff my personal MBA: sharing things I learned from training and workshop I have attended or will attend, making my knowledge available for those who might need it, marketers interested in learning those two cents I can offer. Why you should trust me? I try to stay on those few genius spots mentioned by Tom Watson.
I recently read the book Business Model You which has been a good chance to understand YOU (my customer, partner or supporter), my strengths and what I want to pursue in my career as a marketer. I’m embracing the opportunity to reinvent my race starting from myself, being a proper entrepreneur of my personal brand beginning with a compelling blog dedicated to marketing topics I would love to discuss with you:
- Customer Experience
- User Experience
- Design
- Growth Hacking
- Content Strategy
- SEO
- Social Media
This is also a test for what could become my own business, so I’m filling the shelves with the best products I can and your feedback will be the best reward as it will help me to think, grow and prosper. I will appreciate and thanking you will be my mantra!
